During an appearance on Fox News, Rove claimed that Obama had not gotten more people to vote for him, compared to 2008. Instead, Obama successfully retained his 2008 supporters and convinced voters not to cast their ballots for his Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

On two different occasions with different spiders on different webs, I successfully swatted mosquitoes and put them on the webs, offering what I thought were tasty treats for them. But both spiders simply cleared them off, not cocooning them for meals.

Interesting:

Mitt Romney, battered by Democratic attacks over his Bain Capital record and taxes, is calling on President Obama to agree to a truce over his business career.

“Our campaign would be — helped immensely if we had an agreement between both campaigns that we were only going to talk about issues and that attacks based upon — business or family or taxes or things of that nature,” Romney said, according to excerpts of an upcoming interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd released Friday.

I’m not sure how putting focus on Romney’s biggest brand of his presidential worthiness is not talking about the issues. Touting oneself as POTUS material based on how good a business person one has been is making the following an issue in the election:

Corporate privilege and corporate welfare
CEO CVs and tax returns
Neoliberal-edged free-market capitalism cutting away at the middle class in myriad ways

You want your corporation to accept capital from elites who had a hand in El Salvadoran death squads? Then we get to play Better Business Bureau of the American electorate when you tell us you wanna be Prez. That’s just how it works.

Mr. Romney, I may never call you pal, but I will definitely call you chum.

I was recently reflecting on my first time hearing this phrase. It actually confused me. I was in my 20’s. (I’m closer to 40 today.)

“What do you mean?” I said.

“Would you hit that?!”

And then it dawned on me that the person was asking if I’d have sex with whatever other person we were talking about.

Okay, so… “Having sex with” = “hitting it”.

The collusion of sex and violence in our culture can’t be any more succinctly put than that.

Timothy Courtois, 49, was arrested Sunday after driving 112 mph on I-95 South, police said. When stopped, police found he had an assault rifle, a shotgun and several semi-automatic handguns. Courtois allegedly told Maine State Police when he was stopped that he was on his way to Derry, N.H., to kill a former employer. He also had newspaper clippings of the Colorado theater shooting from Friday and claimed to have gone to a showing of “The Dark Knight Rises” in Saco with a loaded gun.
